The subjectivity present in the dissertation

As to the structure of the text, we know that because it is an objective text, no personality traits are allowed.

But in fact, according to the communicative situation, the argument can be both objective and subjective.

The Argumentative Thesis requires a more objective language, based on solid arguments, in which the issuer is committed not to be emotionally involved with the subject, because it is a “universal” reader.

It is a type of text much requested in exams of the Enem, Vestibulares and Contests of a general form.

In this case, there is no relation of familiarity, of more intimate coexistence between both, because it is primordial that there is credibility before the subject approached.

Already when we speak of subjectivity, we immediately refer to the idea of greater involvement, portraying personal impressions, revealing emotions and feelings and even using a certain connotative tone.

However, subjectivity in this case does not mean the absence of information or even irrelevant arguments. There is a diversity of point of view on a certain subject that is not part of a homogeneity, as it is in the argumentative dissertation.

Here is a poem with this structure:

  • I did not have this face today,
  • so calm, so sad, so skinny,
  • nor these eyes so empty,
  • nor the bitter lip.

  • I did not have these hands without strength,
  • so still and cold and dead;
  • I did not have this heart.
  • which does not even show.

  • I did not give for this change,
  • so simple, so sure, so easy:
  • – In what mirror was my face lost?

Cecília Meireles

We can identify that poetry is based on the defense of a thesis on the transformations inherent in human life, seen under a physical and also psychological plane, as well as the search for its own identity, which in the midst of a world so troubled in which we live, sometimes we feel that way.
